New research from Carnegie Mellon University Research Data Services Librarian Alfredo González-Espinoza uses mathematical and computational methods to examine some of those changes systematically across 400 years of music. The study also demonstrates how openness can extend throughout the research process.

CMU recognized two University Libraries team members at the 32nd annual Andy Awards ceremony. Community Collections Archivist Crystal Johnson won the award for Commitment to Vibrant Community, and Web & Applications Developer Jonathan Kiritharan was recognized with the award for Innovative and Creative Contributions.

Carnegie Mellon University Libraries Associate Dean for Digital Infrastructure G. Sayeed Choudhury has received a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation to launch the Ecosystem for Next Generation Infrastructure (ENGIN) Software Foundation. This two-year initiative represents the next strategic phase of the Carnegie Mellon University Open Source Programs Office (OSPO), housed within the University Libraries. The ENGIN Software Foundation (ESF) aims to fill a critical and widely recognized gap in the academic open source ecosystem.
