Sustainability Initiative Director Alex Hiniker and Coordinator for Cultural Change Olivia Wells welcomed the community into the Sustainability Studio to learn more about the Sustainability Initiative.
Some areas highlighted unique resources available to the community through the Libraries, including a variety of physical and digital materials, workspaces, and people ready to assist students, faculty, and staff. At other stations, attendees were invited to explore the Libraries through craft, with a variety of hands-on activities available to help their creativity flow.

Social Sciences Librarian Sarah Young and Undergraduate Experience and Student Success Librarian Frankie Checchio share information and swag outside the entrance to Hunt Library.On the second floor of Hunt Library, attendees were invited to explore a variety of obsolete technologies in the Obsolete Technology Petting Zoo.
The University Archives showcased pieces of CMU’s robotics history during their open house.Also on view in the Archives were items from CMU’s student organizations including Buggy, WRCT, Scotch’n’Soda, and more.
In the Architecture Archives, Arts and Humanities Librarian Lynn Kawaratani displayed drawings and archival material like a letter by Frank Lloyd Wright, drawings of the original Ferris Wheel and models of proposed CMU buildings.Students from disciplines across campus attended an info session about IDeATe’s academic programs, followed by a tour of the labs and studios in the basement of Hunt Library.
In Sorrells Library, Computational Research Librarian Erin Higgins, Open Science Postdoctoral Research Associate Chisom Obasih, and STEM Librarian Kristen Scotti shared information about the Libraries and helped visitors make buttons.Executive Assistant Anne Kramer helps raise awareness of campus initiatives and services focused on living more sustainably in the Sustainability Studio.
