At Carnegie Mellon University Libraries, we celebrate the many contributions of the faculty and staff who make the Libraries the destination for scholarly information, creative inquiry, and intellectual collaboration across disciplines, propelling the significance, reach, and impact of the university.

Program Director for Research Information Management Services (RIMS) Jason Glenn recently presented a talk titled “Leveraging AI to Enhance Public Researcher Profiles and Faculty Committee Service Equity” at the IFLA: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Libraries and Librarianship Symposium in Qatar, Doha on Feb. 26, 2025.

This project and talk were developed by Glenn, Associate Dean for Research and Innovation Brian Mathews, Library AI Infrastructure Resident Dom Jebbia, RIMS Systems Support Analyst Yingxue Li, and former RIMS Data Analyst Andrey Chang. Glenn’s presentation explored the team’s effort to develop an innovative AI-powered tool to address two key challenges: the adoption barrier for Scholars@CMU researcher profiles, and the equitable distribution of faculty committee service responsibilities.

Business and Entrepreneurship Librarian Ryan Splenda was invited to give the keynote presentation at the 2025 Southern College and Business Librarians (SOUCABL) conference at the University of South Carolina (Columbia, SC) on March 13, 2025. The theme of the conference was the evolving business librarian, and his presentation focused on his work in evidence synthesis in business and management. The presentation was titled: Bridging Business Librarianship and Evidence Synthesis: An Emergent Role of Business Librarians.

Two Libraries exhibitions were reviewed by the Art Libraries Society of North America as part of their Library Exhibition Reviews, which promotes best practices and enhances the visibility of library exhibitions. Both “Inventing Shakespeare: Text, Technology, and the Four Folios” and “Here to Stay: Celebrating 40 Years at the Architecture Archives” were highlighted by the journal, recognizing the work of Associate Director of Creative Heidi Wiren Kébé, Curator of Special Collections Sam Lemley, Arts and Humanities Librarian Lynn Kawaratani, Anniversary Exhibits and Publishing Managing Editor Brad King, and many others from the Libraries.
