Summer is officially here! Kick off the season with some of our newest OSDC programming. This month we're continuing our MiniSeries in Reproducible Research with the second installment in our series, Data Visualization with R, and topping it off with a new event series aimed at engaging students in the many exciting citizen science opportunities at CMU, in the community, and on the web! Join us to learn how science is for everyone! Last month we kicked off our new workshop MiniSeries covering the foundational skills and concepts needed to produce reproducible research. The OSDC Minis are designed to teach researchers basic concepts, skills, and tools for working with data so that they can get more done in less time, and with less pain. 

This month, we continue our series with Data Visualization with R! This 2-hour course based on our popular Carpentries workshops teaches students to create customized data visualizations in R. Using the ggplot2 package, students will produce plots, histograms, density distribution, and other useful visualizations to bring their data to life. Workshops are taught in a highly-interactive, hands-on format and require no prior programming experience to participate. Register now on LibCal.

Announcing our newest event series: Citizen Science Featurettes!

What can Pokémon teach us about data documentation and metadata? How can we learn to write better data management plans from Untitled Goose Game? Data management is a core tenet underlying open science: data that is well-organized and documented is more reproducible and allows for more transparency in data sharing! Pixel Datascapes is a brand new web series focusing on the data management lessons found in video games and is produced by Hannah Gunderman, Research Data Management Consultant at CMU Libraries.
