The item I need is checked out.

To obtain a checked-out item, you have several options:

Options 1 and 2 are your best bets if you need the material quickly.
Any checked-out item is subject to library "recall" after 7 days if another Carnegie Mellon user requests to use it.
If you request a checked-out item:
- We contact the borrower and ask that the item be returned immediately.
- The borrower has 7 days to respond before we send a 2nd notice.
- If the recalled item is not returned as requested, we block the borrower's library privileges.
- "Recall and hold" policies help to insure fair use of library materials at Carnegie Mellon.
