Carnegie Mellon photo ID required for borrowing

• Members of the Carnegie Mellon community must show current Carnegie Mellon photo ID to check out items.
  
  
• You may not use another person's photo ID to check out library materials, even with written permission.
  
  
• Carnegie Mellon faculty members are permitted to register others to borrow items for them.
  

Required ID for borrowing by other users

• Affiliated library users
  
  
  • University of Pittsburgh
    Show current Pitt photo ID and a Reciprocal Borrower's Card (free with Pitt photo ID from the circulation desk, Hillman Library).
    
    
  • The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh
    Show current photo ID (driver's license, etc.) and a letter from The Carnegie that authorizes you to borrow.
    
    
  • PALINET (users from other local or regional universities in the PALINET network)
    Show current photo ID from your institution and a signed PALINET borrowing form obtained from your librarian.
    
    
• Other users
  
  
  • "Special Borrower" library card
    Purchase a library card from the administration office, Hunt Library, 1st floor, 412-268-2446.
    
    • Most users pay $75 for a one-year library card.*
    • Carnegie Mellon alumni pay $50 for a one-year card.*
      

*If you have donated this amount or more to Carnegie Mellon within the year, you may request and receive a library card.
