Carnegie Mellon Libraries: User Services: Interlibrary Loan: What if I break the rules?
What if I break
the rules?
What if I
don't return my interlibrary loan on time?
If you keep
a loan more than 14 days overdue, the ILLiad system will block
your interlibrary loan privileges and we will also block
your library account. All privileges will be reinstated when you return
the item.
Lending
libraries rarely charge fines for overdue loans. However, they are less
likely to let us borrow again if you keep an item overdue.
If you consistently
keep items overdue, we reserve the right to refuse your interlibrary loan
requests.
What if I
lose an interlibrary loan?
If you damage
or lose a loan item, you must pay the replacement cost and any processing
fees charged by the lending institution.
If not paid
immediately, the charges will be billed as official university debt, following
Carnegie Mellon procedures for lost library materials.
