Provides access to the world’s repository of small molecule crystal structures. Contains the results of X-ray and neutron diffraction analyses of more than 420,000 organic and metal-organic compounds. Provides comprehensive and retrospective coverage of the published literature. The CSD is continually updated with new structures (annual growth rate is ca. 9%) and with improvements to existing entries.

Use CSD to:

CSD includes: ConQuest, Mercury, Mogul, IsoStar, VISTA, and PreQuest

To Download CSD:

  1. Download the CCDC.zip file from here (this is a large file and takes awhile to download)

  2. Unzip the file and then open the CCDC folder

  3. Open the CRYSTALS folder

  4. Doubleclick on the file: crystals-b1224-jun04-setup.exe and follow the steps in the Set-up Wizard

  5. Return back to the CCDC folder

  6. Open the CSD System Databases folder

  7. Doubleclick on the file: CSDV528.exe and follow the steps in the Set-up Wizard

  8. Return back to the CCDC folder

  9. Open the CSD System Software folder

  10. Doubleclick on the file: CSDSoftware2007.exe and follow the steps in the Set-up Wizard

  11. Return back to the CCDC folder

  12. Open the IsoStar folder

  13. Doubleclick on the file: Isostar_PC_Client_2_0.exe and follow the steps in the Set-up Wizard

  14. To begin using the program the first time only, click on Start --> All Programs --> CCDC --> CSD System Software and then click on ConQuest

  15. Accept the agreement and then enter the Site Code: 1339 and Confirmation Code: C0CE30

  16. Click Register Online and finally click on Click Here to Continue

  17. You will find various icons on your desktop to run the program, as well as a file called Crystals Getting Started
