HUNT REF-1 INDEX
This is a key title in the scholarly literature on economics. EconLit offers
subject indexing and abstracts for journals, collective volumes, books, dissertations,
and working papers. The print edition includes substantive articles, book
reviews, and the contents of current journals not available in EconLit.
- Mergent
Online (Carnegie
Mellon users only)
Mergent is a database of public company information, the electronic equivalent
of the well-known Moody's Manuals. Mergent includes records for 10,000+
U.S. public companies and 14,000+ international companies. The database provides
a variety of company information and up to 10 years of easily downloadable
financial reports. Mergent also offers real-time SEC filings and a facility
for building reports that compare companies' financials.
- Stat-USA/Internet
(Carnegie Mellon users only)
This Commerce Department database is divided into two sections. The "State
of the Nation" provides current and historical economic and financial releases
and economic data. "Globus & NTDB" contains current and historical trade-related
releases, international market research, trade opportunities, country analyses,
and import and export data.

- Bureau
of Labor Statistics Data
This site provides labor force data, the unemployment rate, consumer price
index, productivity measures, and more. Data can be extracted using a web-based
form or obtained via ftp. "Economy at a Glance" contains current information
on the various economic indicators produced by BLS along with other major
statistical categories.
- Council
of Economic Advisors
Accessible from this site are the Economic Report of the President
(1995- ), monthly economic indicators, and various white papers.
- FRED:
Federal Reserve Economic Data
The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis provides historical U.S. economic and
financial data, including daily U.S. interest rates, monetary and business
indicators, exchange rates, balance of payments, and some Midwestern regional
economic data. Data can be viewed on-screen or downloaded. All files, except
those that are compressed, are in ASCII format.

of Management and Budget
OMB assists the President in overseeing the preparation of the Federal budget
and supervises its administration in Executive Branch agencies. This site
contains the current fiscal year budget proposal, OMB circulars and bulletins,
financial management guidelines for federal agencies, and more.
- Penn
World Tables 5.6
This source provides data for 152 countries and 29 subjects such as population;
real GDP per capita; government share of GDP; a standard of living index;
and exchange rates. The years of coverage are from 1950 through 1992. This
database is no longer being updated.
- Survey
of Current Business (Bureau of Economic Analysis)
The Survey of Current Business offers data on national income and products
accounts; investment, trade, and securities exchanges; personal and government
income and outlays; etc. Figures are reported on the international, national,
and regional levels as appropriate.
- GDP
and Other Major NIPA Series, 1929-97
Spreadsheets of NIPA tables 1.1,1.2, and 7.1, in self-extracting ZIP format
also are available here for downloading. Annual (1929- ) and quarterly (1946-
) data are in spreadsheet format.
