Databases
allow you to search for articles, conference papers,
dissertations and book chapters on subjects relevant to your research in Psychology. You can
also search for articles by a particular author or find articles that cite a
specific author's works. Some databases contain only brief citation information.
Others include abstracts or full-text journal articles.
These databases are restricted to Carnegie Mellon students, faculty and staff. To access them remotely, go to Remote User Access.
- ArticleFirst.
An interdisciplinary index to nearly 12,500 journals in science, technology,
medicine, social science, business, the humanities, and popular culture, 1990
to the present. Especially useful for finding references to very recent articles.
- Health and Psychosocial Instruments. This database helps identify and locate tests, checklists, rating scales, vignettes, etc.
- Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts
- Medline.
National Library of Medicine database. Contains bibliographic citations and
author abstracts from over 3,900 biomedical journals.
- MIT
Cognet. Includes full-text MIT journals and books in cognitive science,
plus online seminars, discussion groups, job listings, and announcements. To
access publications, click on "library."
- PsycARTICLES.
Full-text articles from the American Psychological
Association. These same articles are also included in PsycInfo (see below),
which is more comprehensive.
- PsycCRITIQUES. Contains reviews of psychology books, films, software, etc.
- PsycINFO.
Premier database for Psychology, covers psychology and related fields.
- Web of Science. Interdisciplinary citation database, includes Social Sciences Citation Index.
