  HUNT REF-1  INDEX
  This is an indispensable subject and author guide to literature on current international economic and social conditions. It covers articles, books, conference proceedings, government documents, book chapters, and statistical directories about public affairs, including violence and crime. The print version must be used for years prior to 1972; only the online database is available after 1994.
  
  
• PsycINFO (Carnegie Mellon users only)
  PsycINFO covers psychology and related fields and describes journal articles, book chapters, books, and technical reports, as well as citations to dissertations. Indexed materials are international in scope, selected from psychology and related journals published globally in over 25 languages. Each record contains a bibliographic citation for a journal article or other indexed items and library holdings for the journal title. Most records have an abstract.

• Web of Science (Carnegie Mellon users only)
  1945- (updated weekly)
  Web of Science is a multidisciplinary database, with searchable author abstracts, covering the literature of the sciences, social sciences and the arts & humanities. Users may choose to search across all the databases, or select just one. This unique database indexes and links cited references for each article. All formats provide complete bibliographic data and additional features, such as cited reference searching, links to related articles, plus author and publisher addresses.

• Wilson Select Plus (Carnegie Mellon users only)
  1994- (updated weekly)
  Wilson Select Plus contains citations, abstracts and full-text articles of 800+ periodicals covered in five periodical indexes: Readers Guide Abstracts, Social Sciences Abstracts, Humanities Abstracts, General Science Abstracts and Wilson Business Abstracts. Articles are text-only and do not contain graphics or photographs published in the original articles.

• National Criminal Justice Reference Service (U.S. Department of Justice)
  A key component of this site is the NCJRS Abstracts Database which offers summaries of criminal justice literature gathered from government reports, journal articles, books, and more. Specific topics such as crime prevention, juvenile justice, and victims are also covered.
  
  
• National Archive of Criminal Justice Data
  NACJD provides computerized crime and justice data from federal agencies, state agencies, and investigator-initiated projects for secondary statistical analysis. The NACJD was established under the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) and is supported by the Bureau of Justice Statistics(BJS) and the National Institute of Justice(NIJ) in the US Department of Justice.

  C J Central provides access to the Criminal Justice Distance Learning Consortium, Talk Justice on the Web, the Justice Research Association, and a large Criminal Justice CyberLibrary.
  
  
• The National Consortium on Violence Research (NCOVR)
  NCOVR specializes in violence research and training. Headquartered at Carnegie Mellon, this interdisciplinary consortium brings together researchers from the US, Canada and Europe to study the dynamics that surround violence in urban areas and to develop policy initiatives aimed at reducing such violence. The site includes the Data Center, which manages a wide variety of data sets that contribute to the understanding and measurement of issues related to violence.
  
  
• Center for the Prevention of School Violence
  Approaches this topic from a number of angles. The Library provides access to various research and data reports plus links to other resources.
  
  
• National Youth Violence Prevention Resource Center
  Prevention and intervention programs, publications, research, and statistics on violence committed by and against children and teens. A collaboration between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other Federal agencies.
  
  
• Partnerships Against Violence Network (PAVNET)
  PAVNET is a "virtual library" of information about violence and youth-at-risk. Representing data from seven different federal agencies, this site provides comprehensive access to information for states and local communities.

• United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI)
  The UNICRI site offers their own publications as well as a Bibliographic Database, Thesaurus, and World Directory of Criminological resources.
  
  
• United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)
  The UNODC offers resources on a variety of topics related to drugs such as reduction in supply and demand, terrorism, human trafficking, and relevant laws and treaties.
  
  
• UN Standards and Norms
  Contains United Nations rules, including those related to crime prevention and criminal justice. The site also contains documents from the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.
  
  
• International Centre for Criminal Law Reform and Criminal Justice Policy
  The ICCLR, a nonprofit institute formally affiliated with the UN, provides access to its annual reports and other documents containing statistics on international crime.

• Amnesty International: Library
  The Amnesty International Library offers documents on many human rights issues, including the death penalty.

• Capital Punishment Statistics (Bureau of Justice Statistics)
  Statistics and publications about capital punishment from the US Department of Justice.
  
  
• Death Penalty Information Center
  The DPIC provides the media and public with analysis and issues concerning capital punishment. The site contains reports, factsheets, and other resources related to the death penalty.
  
  
• Focus on the Death Penalty: Death Row (University of Alaska Anchorage Justice Center)
  This site offers summary information about death row plus state-by-state accounts of death penalty policies and methods of execution.
  
  
• Legal Information Institute (Cornell University)
  The LII site provides an overview of the death penalty, information regarding relevant Supreme Court cases, state criminal codes, and links to a large number of other death penalty sites.
