Library resource guide for students in the Heinz School - Australia programs
Research help
As students in the Heinz School of Carnegie Mellon University, you have access to many of the same CMU library resources and services as students at the Pittsburgh campus.
Even though you are located in Australia, CMU librarians in Pittsburgh are available to assist you too.
The two best ways for you to get in contact with a CMU librarian are through email and through "Live Help" chat service.
For further information, see: Ask a Librarian.
Article databases
You can access all of the databases to which CMU Libraries subscribe.
Some of the most frequently used databases include:
To access other databases, go to Databases by Name, A-Z
If CMU Libraries own the print version of the journal, it will be displayed in CAMEO. If the hard copy of the journal article you need is available at CMU, or if it is not owned by CMU, you can submit an interlibrary loan request for the article through Illiad. For further information about submitting requests, refer to this quick guide.
While articles will be sent to you electronically, please plan for at least one week for requesting, processing, and receiving articles.
Is there a list somewhere of which journals are available electronically?
The collection of journals that can be accessed online is large, some frequently used e-journals include:
Human Rights Quarterly
Contributions to economic analysis & policy
Economic Policy Review
Business & Politics
Global Economy Journal
ACM Digital Library
IEEE Xplore
Refer to the A-Z journal list for other journal titles.
What about online books and other electronically available material?
CMU subscribes to many online reference books; there are a variety of other materials available electronically too.
What do I do if I want to search article databases from home?
You can search the article databases, electronic books, and other online sources by logging into the campus Web-VPN service.
