Browser Use Internet Explorer 5.0+

Screen resolution For best viewing, set screen resolution to 1280 x 1024 and maximize screen.

Some resources and databases may support search methods that are not compatible with MetaLib’s search syntax. Better searches can be done by going directly to the original database. Click on the database name to get there.

Character limit 100 characters per query, including spaces.

Phrase searching The default search is a phrase search.
Do not use quotation marks.

Case sensitivity Enter search terms in upper- or lower-case, or combine upper- and lower-case.

Punctuation
Do not punctuate queries.

Truncation
To broaden search results, truncate words with a question mark.

Boolean searching Boolean operators AND, OR, and WITHOUT may be entered in search boxes.

QUESTION:

Are all of the Libraries' online resources searchable using MetaLib?

ANSWER:

No. There are a number of resources that are currently not searchable using MetaLib.

 

QUESTION:

Is there a limit to how many items can be stored under "My Space"?

ANSWER:

A user can create an unlimited number of folders under "My Space".

 

QUESTION:

Is there a limit to how many items can be placed in a folder located under "My Space"?

ANSWER:

A user can store up to 500 records in each folder.

 

QUESTION:

How many databases can be searched simultaneously?

ANSWER:

You can search up to 10 resources simultaneously.

 

QUESTION:

Will user folders in "My Space" ever be deleted?

ANSWER:

User accounts/folders/settings are saved indefinitely. They can be deleted by the user or an administrator, but will not be deleted automatically.

 

QUESTION:

Is there a limit on the total number of records that can be "found" in one search?

ANSWER:

No limits are imposed by MetaLib. Some resources limit the number of hits that they will allow MetaLib to retrieve.
