Carnegie Mellon Libraries: Music: CD Sheet Music

CD Sheet Music

CD Sheet Music produces exactly that, sheet music available on CDs. "The CDs are scans of sheet music drawn from standard available public domain editions such as Breitkopf and Haertel, Peters, G. Schirmer, Ricordi and others. Where more than one edition is available, the editors have chosen the most-often performed version or the cleanest and easiest to read. In cases where there is no available public domain edition, a new edition has been produced (for example, the Mozart London Chelsea Notebook). Several of the compilations also contain licensed copyrighted material."

"Since these are public domain works, you can print as many copies of them as you like. If you need to prove that the copies are legal for use at a competition or festival, included on every CD is a letter explaining that the music is in the public domain and that no specific permission is required. You can simply print this out and give it your competition/festival adminsitrators just as you would do with a letter of permission for copyrighted music."

You may use these on the workstation located near the Audio/Visual Resources Office, 4th floor, Hunt Library. That workstation is connected to a printer so you can easily print the music out in pdf format. This is a nice option if a score you need happens to be checked out. One way to search Cameo is to perform a simple keyword search for cd sheet music. You could also try a composer's name and cd sheet music (e.g. brahms and cd sheet music).
