Meta Sites

ADAM: The Gateway to Art, Design, Architecture & Media Information on the Internet. (Surrey Institute of Art & Design on behalf of the ADAM Consortium)
An excellent, easily searchable subject guide to arts internet resources. Links are carefully selected by a team of librarians for site quality and content.

AHDS Visual Arts (Arts and Humanties Data Service)
A rich archive of digital resources in the visual arts. There are additional sections in AHDS for peformance, archaeology, history, and literature/language/linguistics as well.

World Wide Arts Resources
A vast meta-site of arts links; contains an especially long list of links to musems and galleries. Created in 1994 by World Wide Arts Resources Corporation.

Art Organizations

Art in the Public Interest
A non-profit organization founded in 1995 to promote socially conscious, community-based art practice. Co-directs the Community Arts Network; publishes API News online. Co-directors Linda Frye Burnham and Steven Durland published the highly acclaimed, but now discontinued journal High Performance. Highlights from the hey-day of the journal are published in their book, The Citizen Artist: 20 Years of Art in the Public Arena: An Anthology from High Performance Magazine 1978-1998.

ArtsNet: Arts Management Information Service
Created by the Arts Management program at Carnegie Mellon University. Especially useful for finding information about arts organizations and institutions in Pittsburgh and nationwide.

ArtsWire: Online Communications for the Arts
Managed by the New York Foundation for the Arts; a network of artists, arts organizations and arts funders. Includes current arts news and opportunities for artists. Much of this information is available for free.

Creative Capital Foundation for the Arts (New York, NY)
A non-profit organization funding individual artists. Their website is rich with information on artists and art topics.
