- Grove Art Online Image Search
As of 2005, Grove Art has begun adding images within the text of articles in addition to linking these comprehensive image sites:-Art Image Links includes international museum and gallery websites selected by the editors of Grove-Art Resources contains 90,000 images in art history, with a good 20th century representation
-The Bridgeman Art Library contains 100,000 art images from major international museums, galleries and auction houses.

Free-form browsing in the library collections for images is a time-honored method for finding images. In addition to some of the more focused resources mentioned above, here is a checklist of areas and types of materials in the library to keep in mind.

- PDF images with full-text are available in a growing number of online periodical indexes
- By typing in ill or illus (try both) as keywords in your online search strategy you can find books that contain illustrations
- Browse the library stacks in your subject area
- Indicate 'pictorial works' in a Words and Phrases search
e.g. women and 'pictorial works' (in single quotes).
Pictorial works are indicated as a subject heading in library catalogs for any books that contain images primarily. Phrases are indicated by single quotes in Cameo.- Indicate ill or il in a Words and Phrases search

Ill (and sometimes il or illus) is an abbreviation used in library catalogs to indicate an illustrated volume. The number, quality and type of images vary.Picture indexes help locate images found in books, catalogs, and magazines. Hunt Library has a good selection of resources found in the following indexes. The indexes are located in the Reference (FA-REF) section on the 4th floor of Hunt Library.
