Resources at Carnegie Mellon

-Art Image Links includes international museum and gallery websites selected by the editors of Grove-Art Resources contains 90,000 images in art history, with a good 20th century representation

-The Bridgeman Art Library contains 100,000 art images from major international museums, galleries and auction houses.

Picture indexes help locate images found in books, catalogs, and magazines. Hunt Library has a good selection of resources found in the following indexes. The indexes are located in the Reference (FA-REF) section on the 4th floor of Hunt Library.

Part of the Arts and Humanities Data Service which collects, promotes and preserves electronic resources for research, teaching and learning in the arts and humanities. This portion includes a guides and best practices for creating digital images, teaching tools and image collections.

TASI:Technical Advisory Service for Images (University of Bristol)
An educational site providing resources and tips for finding and managing images. Finding and Using Digital Images give advice on how to find images of stock photography, art, history, science and maps. Includes many resources: A Review of Image Search Engines (with a short list of links to stock photography including National Geographic, Time and Life, Christie's, and Magnum Photo), a glossary of terms, tips on using Powerpoint and more.
