The University Libraries offer student assistant
employment in several locations:
Engineering & Science Library, Wean
Hall, supports majors in CIT, MCS, and SCS.
Digital Library Initiatives is located
at 6555 Penn Avenue
Hunt Library supports majors in CFA,
Tepper School of Business, Heinz School, and H&SS.
Mellon Institute Library, 4400 5th Ave.,
supports majors in MCS.

Schedule options
include all hours of library service, as follows:
WEEKDAYS
(Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm only). Earn $7.25 per hour to start.
Many library departments employ students
only Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm.
DAY/EVENING
(scheduled 7 days, 8 am-midnight). Earn $7.25 or $8.25 per hour to start,
depending on shift.
Some departments in E&S Library and
Hunt Library employ students 7 days a week, during day and evening: Sun-Thur,
8 am-midnight. Fri, 8 am-9 pm. Sat, 10 am-9 pm.
LATE NIGHT
(after midnight during academic year, Hunt Library). Earn
$8.50 per hour.
During the academic year, two departments
in Hunt Library employ students after midnight: Sun-Thur, midnight-3 am.
FLEXIBLE
(Hunt Library). Earn $8 per hour.
Occasionally, the Library Information Technology
department employs a student for programming and other technical assistance
(flexible hours).

- Copyright Permissions Assistant--
Data entry, tracking and retrieval related to Million Book Project.
- Development--assist
staff with library fundraising and development; data entry, filing, letters,
etc.
- Fine & Rare
Books--process books for collection and prepare exhibits, bindery,
shelve materials.
- Interlibrary
Loan--help staff obtain items from other libraries for users.
- Music & Slides--help users with collections and audio listening area; check
out and shelve materials.
- Periodicals--help
users with journals, newspapers & microforms, shelve materials, special
projects.
- Programming--create
scripts to generate reports, create web pages, etc.
- Reference--shelve
materials and file microforms; provide office assistance to staff.
- Technology--help
staff to maintain copiers, computers and printers.
- University Archives--data
entry, building the Tartan/Focus database by inputting various entries into
an online system. Assist with the hanging and removal of various pieces
of artwork. Help staff and users with collections of CMU history and memorabilia.
- Video Collection--help
users with collection and video viewing area, check out and shelve materials.
