Webcasting |
- WIPO Broadcasting Treaty (EFF - Electronic Frontier Foundation)
World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has proposed legislation to govern webcasting. The University Libraries are monitoring the proposal process, and educating colleagues and working to prevent passage of this new and unnecessary layer of intellectural property control. Sent letters and have worked with university government relations to prepare additional letters to relevant senators and representatives:

Study of faculty publishing practices and copyright transfers
Troll Covey is working with Michael Carroll of the Creative Commons to understand how and why (or why not) faculty select and negotiate with publishers. Results will be disseminated upon completion.
Current awareness
The University Libraries follow issues and alert university administrators, faculty, and library faculty and staff to proposed legislation likely to impact services and/or the development of digital libraries.
